Winter 2010

Settling into London
Tuesday 12 January
Time: 10.30-12.30
Venue: Outpost London office, Shell Centre

Outpost London Team has pleasure in inviting new expatriates to London to a 'Settling into London' morning. There will be a short introduction on living in the UK - health system, education, career and development - and time for you to ask your own questions. You will get to know the team and the services we offer and you will meet other expatriate Shell families.

Enhancing Cross Cultural Learning, by

Dr. Po Li Tan is a Lecturer in Higher Education at King’s Learning Institute, King’s College London. Living and working in a foreign country can be challenging and stress full. However if you are equipped with an appropriate mindset, or disposition to ‘learn’, the journey of living in a foreign country could be a pleasant and more meaningful one. The aim of this workshop is to make participants feel empowered as effective ‘global learners’ in a cross-cultural environment.

Career & Development Support Group

If you are considering working, studying, changing career or volunteering in the UK or anywhere else in the world, now or in the future, do come and join us. The Career & Development Support Group is an informal sharing of experience as well as an opportunity to create networking contacts while meeting with other likeminded Shell expatriate partners.

FOCUS Information Services, based in central London, also offer a wide range of programmes that explore aspects of living and working in the UK. To supplement our own services, Outpost London has partnered with FOCUS to provide career support services. The Career & Development programme of FOCUS is free for Shell spouses. .

Have you moved office location?

With the Renewal Project in Shell Centre Tower, Outpost London has lost track of some of you. Please contact us if you have moved office or if you have not received Outpost London correspondence (e.g. Destinations magazine) through internal mail in the last three months. Also, if you received correspondence but it was re-directed by Shell Mail Services, please let us know.

Current Outpost London Job Openings

 

Office Volunteer

An office volunteer will be responsible for the upkeep of the main database. Other duties may include: ordering information pamphlets from schools, organisations etc., photocopying, maintaining the Library and general office assistance.  We prefer a candidate who has working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook and can commit to one day a week 10.00am – 3.00pm.

 

Career & Development Volunteer

A Career & Development volunteer will be assisting our C&D advisor with a project on Spouse Vocational Assistance.  For more information contact Nathalie on Tuesday or Thursday Tel: 020 7934 6007.

 

Area Coordinators

Would you like to be part of the Outpost London team but prefer the comfort of your own home, why not become an area coordinator?

Area coordinators welcome like-minded expatriates in their area by organising a coffee morning three times a year. Outpost London will look after the invitation email and distribution.

We appreciate it if you could also provide the new expat with local information and knowledge.
