| The FOCUS Career &
Development Programme
To supplement our own services, Outpost London
has partnered with FOCUS Information Services to provide career
support services. Focus’ Career & Development Programme
(CDP) is free for Shell spouses.
The FOCUS CDP offers a variety of seminars, materials and services
to support your career search.
Job Workshops
These four free 2-hour workshops provide you with a
comprehensive and supportive approach to finding the right position
for you. The workshops are divided into two groups, Explorers
(for people who are exploring career options in the UK) and
Fast Trackers (for people who have an established career track
but need knowledge of the UK job market and networking opportunities).
These groups provide structure, accountability, support, motivation
and assistance while increasing your circle of contacts. The
participants of the Explorers group will be using a comprehensive
online career development tool, CareerStorm Navigator, to support
them in their exploration process. Workshops are offered three
times a year (September, January and May).
Career Clinics
Free one-day seminar covering the essential guidelines
for CV preparation, interviewing and networking are held throughout
the year. They are perfect for people wanting information quickly
and for those who cannot commit to a four-week programme.
Career Seminars
Free programmes by professionals in the field on a
broad range of topics that are of interest to job seekers. Held
periodically throughout the year.
One-to-One Coaching
Personalised service for those who want individual
coaching and/or those who desire additional assistance following
the Job Workshops. These coaching sessions are personally tailored
to meet your needs, and topics can include Career Change, Cultural
Coaching, CV Assistance and Mock Interview. The sessions are
not for free. Contact FOCUS for additional information regarding
coaches and associated fees.
FOCUS Job Guide
Launching your Career in the UK: This comprehensive
book will guide you with advice and lists of key contacts and
resources.
All Career & Development services (including
FOCUS) are available at any time during the assignment and not
only when first arriving in London.
